Anupam Kher receives Padma Bhushan award, thanks the whole country

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher on Monday thanked the whole country for being conferred the Padma Bhushan title, saying he would continue to serve the nation to the best of his abilities.

"Thank you my India for this honour. I will continue to serve my country to the best of my abilities," he said after receiving the honour from President Pranab Mukherjee at the civil investiture ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The 61-year-old actor also said he was getting "flashback" of his beginning as a small town boy while getting ready to receive the country's third highest civilian award.

"As I get ready for Padma Awards ceremony, I have a flashback of my life. Journey of a small town boy. Thank You India for the Love. Padma Bhushan," he tweeted before leaving for the ceremony.

"A BIG Thank You to you ALL for your love, warmth & support. Jai Ho," he said.

Kher has been in the Hindi film industry for more than three decades and has acted in many films like 'Aagman', 'Saaransh', 'Karma', 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara' besides others.
