The Ambad police on Sunday seized around 1,400kg of meat, suspected to be beef, near Vilholi phata on the outskirts of the city.

Nashik: The Ambad police on Sunday seized around 1,400kg of meat, suspected to be beef, near Vilholi phata on the outskirts of the city.
The police arrested Wasim Salim Shaikh (19) and Yakub Ayub Shaikh (26), both residents of Malegaon around 12-12:30pm, for carrying the meat illegally.
The police said they acted on a tip-off and seized the truck when it was on its way to Mumbai.

The police said a sample of the meat has been sent for medical examination and both the accused are currently in their custody.
