Sadara Basic Services Company announces commercial operation of Butanol Production Plant which is 33.33% owned by the parent company, Sadara Chemical Company

Further to the announcement dated 21 October 2015 (8 Muharram 1437), Sadara Basic Services Company, being indirectly owned 100% by Sadara Chemical Company (Sadara), announces that analysis of the performance test results of the butanol production plant of Saudi Butanol Company (SABUCO) has been concluded and it has been determined that the plant has met the requirements for commencing commercial operations. The commencement of commercial operations follows the successful testing of the butanol plant equipment and production efficiency in accordance with the technology licenses and implementation contracts.
SABUCO is a special purpose joint venture company established by Sadara, Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Company and Saudi Acrylic Acid Company for the purposes of owning and funding a butanol production plant with a nameplate capacity of 330,000 metric tons of butanol products per year. The butanol produced will be distributed to the partners in accordance with the tolling and processing agreement entered into by the partners. It is currently not possible to determine the financial impact that commercial operations will have on Sadara.
