Two killed in accidents

Two people lost their lives in separate accidents in the city over the last two days.

In an accident that took place on Friday morning, Nirmala (30), a domestic worker, had stepped outside to dispose of garbage on a service lane below Anna Flyover on G.N. Chetty Road when an earth-moving machine coming from the opposite side hit her. She died on the spot.

Nirmala is survived by her husband and three young children.

Senior citizen run over by lorry

In another accident that took place on Thursday, a senior citizen died on the spot when he was hit by a tipper lorry. Dharma (85), a resident of Gangai Amman Nagar, was walking near the Alapakkam signal when a tipper lorry hit him.

The driver, Balan (32), has been remanded by the Poonamallee traffic police.
