Chairman of Nepal's ruling UCPN (Maoist) party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda, has termed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to China "highly successful," saying the deals signed between the two governments during the visit have long-term significance.

"Prime Minister Oli's visit has been highly successful and fruitful in terms of promoting our friendly relationship with China. A number of agreements reached with the Chinese side have a long-term significance in our bilateral ties," Chairman Dahal told reporters at Birgunj City in southern Nepal on Friday.

Oli's week-long official visit to China, which started on March 20, has got warm response from Nepalese people, media, politicians and civil society who have hailed the agreements as a landmark in enhancing cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

"Prime Minister Oli's trip has been historic. It has added a new avenue in our bilateral relations with China," a Kathmandu-based columnist, Shree Krishna Anirudda Gautam, said on Friday's edition of Nepal's leading Kantipur newspaper. Endit
