Male train passenger arrested for indecent exposure

Swift action by a woman travelling on the Yeshwantpur-Kochuveli Garib Rath on Wednesday led to the arrest of a male passenger for alleged flashing.

According to her post on Facebook, the man allegedly exposed himself around 1 a.m. while deliberately making eye contact with female passengers. At that time, the train was between Dharmapuri and Salem.

According to the Inspector of Government Railway Police, Salem, the lady called the passenger helpline (1512) as well as the TTE. GRP personnel lay in wait at Salem station. “When questioned, the passenger claimed that he had been sleeping. We arrested him on suspicion based on her complaint. He was produced in the Salem Women’s Court and remanded to custody till April 4,” he said.

The offending passenger has been identified as Robin Thamarapalli from Thrissur, Kerala. He has been booked under Section 294(4) of the Indian Penal Code.
