Angry wives teach drunk husbands a lesson on Holi

VARANASI: Quarrelling with women on the occasion of Holi cost dear for two as one hubby was torched before self-immolation bid by a woman in Roahnia area while another woman tried to chop the genital of her husband in Cholapur.
According to SO Cholapur Gopalji Gupta, after consuming excessive liquor with friends while playing Holi on Wednesday afternoon a labourer returned home.
After it he tried pull his wife inside their room. When the woman opposed his bid he tore her clothes. Angered over this act of her drunkard hubby the woman attacked his genital with a sharp edged weapons. On hearing his cries neighbours reached there and rushed him to a local hospital.
Following first aid he reached the Cholapur police station himself on a bicycle to lodge an FIR against his wife. In the meantime the family members of wife, dozens of villagers and also their gram pradhan (village head) also reached the police station. It led to high drama there. Following intervention of gram Pradhan the labourer took a pledge not to consume liquor in future and returned home after signing a compromise letter with wife, said Gupta adding, the labourer also denied lodging any complaint against wife.
Meanwhile in Amra Khaira area of Rohania one Rajkumar Prajapati (32) started quarrelling with wife Aarti (28) when other family members were busy in playing colours on Wednesday morning. Angered over it Aarti initially put kerosene oil on her and later also poured on Rajkumar. After torching herself she also set Rajkumar on fire. On seeing it Rajkumar ran towards neighbouring pond. Aarti also chased him and both of them jumped into water. Villagers rushed them to SPG divisional hospital where on noticing sharp deterioration in their health condition doctors referred the duo to some private hospital.
