BRIT Awards 2016: Ofcom Won’t Investigate Complaints

There were a couple of ‘controversial’ moments during this year’s BRIT Awards - Those being the bleeping fail during one of Adele’s acceptance speech and nearly-naked Sadie Pinn making an unplanned appearance during one of Ant & Dec’s live links.

The team tried to bleep out swearing during Adele’s speech, but accidentally missed the offending word and bleeped other words instead.

Sadie, meanwhile, spoke to The Sun after her unexpected cameo, explaining: “I only decided to do it five minutes before, but I know them and I asked Pam. I thought, ‘As long as she says it’s okay, I’ll do it’.”

According to Ofcom, 60 complaints were made about ‘nudity’, while ten people complained about ‘offensive language’.

However, despite the complaints, Ofcom have now announced in a new report that they won’t be pursuing these further.

Geordie duo Ant & Dec are also under scrunity from Ofcom for another show - Saturday Night Takeaway.

The TV standards report shows that three people complained about gender discrimination, with claims that the show discriminates against men because it’s always women being asked to take part in the ‘Win The Ads’ competition.

56 people also reportedly complained after Ant and Dec awarded Andrea Murdoch a free cruise and she found herself at the centre of a “scamming scandal”, while another was not happy with the ‘offensive language’.

It seems Ofcom have decided not to pursue these complaints further either, according to this report.

The Sun reported a number of other complaints made, including two about careless driving depicted in the show.
