Although many would have preferred the wet weather held off for one more day, few were deterred from exploring the stalls and trying out the sideshow games.
“We still had lots and lots of our families there having a good time and supporting all the different stalls,” principal Jilly Rainger said.
“I think our new photo booth stall was popular, our Vinnies fashion parade got a crowd and as always our Filipino food stall was a big winner,” she added.
New to this year’s festivities was a nerf gun stall for locals to show off their gaming skills, a photo booth stall filled with silly props to liven up every picture and an Easter egg hunt for the little ones.
“For our senior students, we’ve made a committed effort this year to making sure that there’s things for them to do,” Jilly said.
Students manned stalls and joined in the fashion parade and basketball.
Musicians Laquita Best, Maria Bates, Tom Gibson and Brendan Leperou entertained the crowd alongside teacher Mr Gibson with a collection of popular covers.
Jilly said money raised from events like the Easter fair and race day goes straight back into improving the school. Recent events funded the update of the primary building’s air conditioning and purchased new rugby league, rugby union and soccer jerseys. This year, the funds will likely go towards more sport uniforms and improvements to the primary block.
The school school also used the fair to raise money for Catholic relief charity, Caritas.
“This year we also have a focus on supporting Fiji through Caritas. So the children are quite aware of the social responsibilities that go with Easter as well,” Jilly said.
Easter is an important time of the year for Holy Trinity, and the secondary drama class presented a liturgy on the crucifixion of Christ at mass in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday.
“Well I guess the Easter Fair is kind of the celebratory part for us, it’s the time where our community comes together,” Jilly said.
