Director: Aadhiram

Cast: Vijay Raghavendra, Haripriya, Aishwarya Sindogi, Vishal Hegde, Sathyajith and Shashikala

Ranathanthra, directed by Aadhiram, is a mixture of romance and thriller, which isn't like previous Sandalwood releases. While the focus of the first half is romance, the second half is an out-and-out thriller. With a slow-paced narration, the movie, especially in the second half, is sure to test your patience for nearly 140 minutes.

The entire story takes place in a haunted house where newly-married couple Gowtham (Vijay Raghavendra) and Swarna (Haripriya) stay for their honeymoon. But on their first night, they face strange situations where Swarna's diamond earring goes missing, her wristwatch falls and breaks into pieces, suddenly bats fly out of the house, dolls shake and a grave is also found in the house. While Swarna is terribly upset, Gowtham tries to consoles her. There is also another shock for Swarna when her close friend falls from the terrace and dies.

But the director has maintained a good suspense till the climax, when we come to know that it is the handiwork of Janardhan (Vishal Hegde) as part of his revenge plan. The need for revenge is another suspense well maintained. The movie has all commercial elements of revenge, some action and romance.

While Haripriya has given life to her role, Aishwarya Sindogi is equally good. While Rajesh’s cinematography is good, the music by Karthik is strictly average.
