DHARWAD: The premises of the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar College of Engineering and Technology was packed with students, the astounding sound and look of costly bikes and four-wheelers.
The last day of INSIGNIA-16, the moto expo, saw events like Aero Modelling, Amphibian, Splitzvilla, Laser Tag, Maths Mina, The Amazing Race, Junkyard Wars and others.

K Gopinath, dean, student welfare, told TOI that amphibian and moto expo are introduced this year. The expo is being held to create awareness among people who own costly vehicles, on the demand of students and we have come up with amphibian to make the event more attractive. Around 10 costly cars and 10 bikes will take part, he added.
Pratik MR from Halliyal Engineering College said it was a pleasure to participate in this k ind of national event. "We have come up with a robot, and participated in events like death race and robo cross. For the past month, we were busy preparing the robot. Our team of four members was worried about its performance, but now we've done our best and are hoping for top place," he added.
Nikhil A, another student from Halliyal College, said the competition not only gives them confidence but also teaches them things they are not taught in classrooms. "We mingle with other students, we communicate with them, we seek their help and also help, it teaches us things which will help us in future," he added.
Azar Sawar, a student and member of the organizing committee from SDMCET said around 60 teams with three to four members have taken active part in the event. Students from engineering colleges in Mysuru, Bengaluru and other North Karnataka engineering colleges are taking part.
This is a place for students to gauge themselves, and those who have come here with ideas will get inspired by the creativity and ideas of others. Those who have come as the audience will also benefit, and motivated by the show, he added.
Shriya Agarwal, a student of a Bengaluru college, said, "I was here to accompany my friend, but the event has motivated me to come up with new ideas, I will work on my idea next year."
