Overview

Sungai Nibong is a town situated in Penang Island close to Batu Uban and Sungai Dua. It is in the south eastern part of the island not far from the coast. Its proximity to Penang Bridge makes it easily reachable.

Sungai Nibong has made itself a name for two main reasons. The first, due to the presence of Sungai Nibong Express Bus Terminal, which is the primary way tourists go in and out of Penang Island via public transport. It has long distance bus services that not only have a nationwide network but also cater to tourists from out of Malaysia such as those from Thailand and Singapore. The second, reason is because it is the site for the famous annual Pesta Pulau Pinang (Penang Festival) during December, which acts as a platform for trade expo, family-based carnivals and cultural events.
