Ahmedabad: The wife of a man, who had gone to file a missing person complaint to Vastrapur police was shocked beyond consolation to learn at the police station that her husband had committed suicide.
According to police sources, Manish Sanghvi, 45, who used to work at a medical store, had left his home in Vastrapur at about 6 am on Wednesday morning, but failed to return in time.
He committed suicide by jumping into Sabarmati river from Subhash bridge.
"His wife and brother-in-law came to police station in the evening to lodge a missing person's report. However, at the same time they received a call informing that Manish has committed suicide and they should rush to Riverfront East Police station. The woman fainted after learning the news," said a police official.
Officials of Riverfront East police station said Manish used to suffer from depression, and on Tuesday, he had gone to his doctor for treatment. However, before the medical report arrived, Manish committed suicide, said a police source.
