Autorickshaw driver found dead in R.K. Nagar

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Suresh (30), an autorickshaw driver at R.K. Nagar. The victim was found dead with stab injuries on the railway track on Wednesday morning. Police said that Feroz, his friend, allegedly killed him during a brawl.

Suresh lived in Thirunavakarasu Thottam in Korukkupet with his wife Devi. He used to deliver water cans to homes on his mini cargo truck. On Tuesday, he returned home after work and after dinner, left home again, but did not return, city police said. On Wednesday morning, his body was found with stab injuries near the Korukkupet railway gate.

The police shifted the body to Stanley Medical College and Hospital.

Arrested for murder

Police have arrested three men on charges of murdering a 35-year-old near Pallavan House on Tuesday night. Mugilan of S.M.Nagar in Pallavan Salai was a member of Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Police said he was actively involved in creating awareness among residents on important issues.

His brother Silambarasan had reportedly picked up a fight with a section of residents and Mugilan had gone to help his brother.

After an argument, the miscreants slashed Mugilan’s neck with a sharp weapon. The police have arrested M. Rakesh (20), Velu (18) and Dayanithi (26) in connection with the case.
