Sasan UMPP gets nod to raise coal output

NEW DELHI: Sasan Power Limited (SPL), which runs a 4,000-MW ultra mega power project (UMPP), has been permitted by the Coal Ministry to increase its production of coal to 17.

Sasan Power Limited (SPL), which runs a 4,000-MW ultra mega power project (UMPP), has been permitted by the Coal Ministry to increase its production of coal to 17.20 mtpa during the current financial year from its Moher & Moher Amlohri extension coal mines.

The company said in June 2015, the Coal Ministry had directed SPL to limit annual coal production to 16 mtpa.

The company said this would enable SPL to sustain its power plant operations.
