Meet Arun & Suvarna - The Couple That's Made It Their Mission To Look After Dogs On The Streets

Arun and Suvarna Pasare have been feeding and looking after street dogs for the last 9 years. They live in Pune and have adopted 5 stray dogs who now live with them. 

Stray dogs are considered an infestation in many Indian cities where it is a common sight to have them treated like dirt. So it's very rare to come across someone who genuinely cares for their welfare and well being. 

These are some pictures from photographer Meghanadan A.S, who spent time with the couple and got acquainted with their schedule.

10. They feed around 200-300 dogs a day from 7 AM to 1 PM, and then again from 4 PM to 12 AM.

12. Kalu is affected by cataract. Government animal hospitals no longer function in Pune, since all were taken over by private hospitals where the cost of treatments are very high.
