IUML firm on Thiruvambady

March 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has refused to give up the Thiruvambady seat, with its leader P.K. Kunhalikutty categorically stating on Tuesday that there would be no further discussions on this issue.

Mr. Kunhalikutty met Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V.M. Sudheeran to convey his party’s strong stand on the Thiruvambady seat which has run into a spot following the reservations expressed by the Thamarassery diocese about the IUML’s candidate.

Mr. Kunhalikutty made it clear that his party would not shift any candidate whose names had already been announced.

The discussions for the four seats that have been left untouched will be taken up after the Congress completes its bilateral talks with the other coalition partners, he said.
