Sarathkumar ready to face SIAA's charges legally

R. Sarathkumar on Tuesday said he is ready to face any legal notice by the association in a legal manner.

Chennai: Former president of South Indian Artistes Association R. Sarathkumar on Tuesday said he is ready to face any legal notice by the association in a legal manner.

“I have acted in over 150 films and earned a lot of money. I have spent my money for the association. They do not know my background. We have given life to the association which was in a poor shape”, he said. The present office-bearers of SIAA allege that we have leased the association building for Rs 150 crore to SVS group. “Now, they have cancelled the lease agreement. Now, who is having that money? he asked.

“If we have accepted bribe from the group, will they accept for cancellation of the lease agreement?” Sarathkumar asked. “I am ready to face anything through legal course”, he challenged and added that he had not received any notice so far.

In the executive meeting of SIFAA, it was decided to issue showcause notice to Sarathkumar and his colleagues, alleging that they had not submitted accounts for Rs 1.65 crore of the total funds of the association.

Most of the members who spoke at the executive meeting sought suspension of former office-bearers including Sarath Kumar, Radha Ravi and Vaagai Chandrasekar from the association. Finally, it was decided to issue a showcause notice to them asking them to reply within 15 days.
