Cristian Brocchi agrees AC Milan lacked motivation in Chievo draw

AC Milan youth team coach Cristian Brocchi has echoed the words of goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, who criticised his Rossoneri teammates after the draw with Chievo at the weekend.

Abbiati said his teammates' attitude was "unacceptable" in the goalless draw, which saw Milan lose further ground on the top five and represented a setback to their hopes of qualifying for Europe next season.

Brocchi, who continues to be touted as a possible replacement for first-team coach Sinisa Mihajlovic if results do not improve, appeared to back Abbiati's assessment.

"A player has got to do what is told of him and be able to cope with the pressure as this is fundamental to be an AC Milan player," Brocchi told itasportpress. "I always insist that a player has got to be motivated whenever he pulls on a Milan shirt.

"When I played for Milan, every single player had this desire -- it was part of our DNA."

Meanwhile, Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has cast further doubt over Mihajlovic's future, saying it "depends on how Milan finish the season" whether the Serbian will remain in charge next season.

"It's premature to talk about it now," he told RAI Radio 1.
