On the other hand Sameer’s Advocate SN Joshi few days earlier told The Indian Express that they are likely to take legal action against the state police officials for illegal detention. “They detained him for nearly 24 hours, they should have released him the moment they realized that they had no material evidence against him. Yet my client was unnecessarily detained, it seemed as though the officials had some sort of vendetta against Sameer. I am in discussion with my client and we are open to all legal options, including filing defamation charges against officials for selectively releasing his personal details such as number of passports and sim cards, just so that they can build public false opinion against his release,” Joshi said.
