New bus route Dongri to Mazgaon from Wednesday

MUMBAI: The BEST will introduce a new bus route, number 135, between Dongri and Mazgaon from Wednesday.
"We plan to deploy more buses on this route to cater to the demand from local residents, specially after the recent demolition of the Hancock bridge,'' said a BEST official. After the bridge demolition, some of the residents would cross the tracks from east to west and vice-versa.There were also cases of trespassing and accidental death of a school student, which apparently prompted the BEST to introduce the new service, sources said.
Said an official from transport wing, ""We received several suggestions from locals, who wanted more bus connectivity between eastern and western side of the railway tracks at the Hancock bridge location.""
The BEST will run the service from Noorbag Naka, Dongri to Jinabai Mulji Rathod Marg__with the first bus being inaugurated by BEST chairman Arvind Dudhwadkar at 10 am on Wednesday.
"We will deploy our inspectors to create awareness on the new bus route and attract more passengers for the service,'' a BEST spokesperson said. Mumbai (south) MP Arvind Sawant will also be present for the inauguration.
