Mysuru: Due to lack of public toilets on the busy D Devaraja Urs Road, employees working in commercial establishments especially women are using private toilets in the vicinity and are paying money for the service extended.
Though it has inconvenienced the public and the employees, the MCC has not bothered to build public toilets in the vicinity. Though hundreds of employees and public visit the busy commercial area, there is no public toilet facility at the road.
Some of the women employees pay monthly rent of Rs 50 to Rs 100 to neighbouring house owners for using toilet facilities.
Lady employees speaking to TOI on condition of anonymity said, "This has been happening since the past couple of years. We are paying and using the private toilet facility. The corporation commissioner must take up this issue and build toilets in the area. This is much essential for a city that has got the cleanest city tag."
When this issue was brought to the notice of corporation commissioner Betsurmath he said "Yes there is no public toilet facility on Devaraj Urs Road. In days to come we will take this up on priority and see that not public toilet facilities are provided on main roads and commercial hubs."
