Gold worth Rs2.5L stolen from ZP VP’s house
Yavatmal: Gold ornaments worth Rs2.5 lakh were stolen the residence of Yavatmal Zilla Parishad vice-president Balasaheb Mangulkar at Darda Nagar in the wee hours of Monday.
According to the Wadgaon Road police, in his complaint Mangulkar has alleged that burglars cut the grill of the window pane and entered his house around 3-4am. The gold ornaments were kept in a box in the cupboard.
Cops summoned the dog squad to the spot but no clue could be found. “We have taken a few suspected history sheeters in custody for interrogation,” said PSO Balkrishna Jadhav.
Mangulkar told TOI that on Sunday he had gone to Mahagaon tehsil and returned home late in the night. “I was sleeping with family on the first floor when the burglars struck my home. I woke up on hearing some noise and also tried to catch one of the burglars but he managed to flee,” Mangulkar said.
A similar burglary had happened at the residence of an architect Satish Pathak, who stays just 100 metres from Mangulkar’s residence, a couple of months ago. Cops have not been able to catch any of the accused in this case so far.
Former education minister and former deputy speaker of state assembly, Vasant Purke, former MPCC president Manikrao Thakre too stay in the same area.
