Punjab University student nabbed over alleged links with banned outfit

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) on Monday has nabbed Punjab University (PU) student in Lahore for allegedly having links with outlawed organization.

According to sources, the security personnel conducted a raid at the university and took Atiq Afridi into custody on a suspicion of having contacts with banned outfit.

The detainee belonging to Khyber Agency recently declared Hakimullah Mehsud his leader in a video message.

The officers stated the student has been shifted to undisclosed place for further interrogation while investigation into the matter has also been launched.

Earlier last year, two Punjab University faculty members and one student were also taken into custody by the Lahore Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) during a raid for association with terrorist organization.

The arrested people were identified as Assistant Professor Amir Saeed of the Institute of Administration Sciences, boys  hostel superintendent Omer Nawab and lecturer at the College of Information Technology, Assistant Professor Ghalib Ata and seventh semester law college student Waqar.

PU spokesman said that Omer Nawab was later released as he was only arrested on suspicion of having some connection with the banned organization.
