Sahu maligned me for publicity: Marik

Bhubaneswar: The SDJM court here on Friday recorded the statement of former DGP Sanjeev Marik in the Rs 50-lakh civil defamation case he had filed against former police IG and ex-MP Anadi Sahu.
Marik said Sahu tried to tarnish his image by branding him as corrupt. "Sahu's charges are baseless. He accused me of having links with gangster brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samant to garner cheap publicity," said the former DGP told mediapersons outside the court.
On February 20, Sahu convened a press conference in Cuttack and alleged that Marik had received Rs 7 crore from the gangster siblings. He further alleged that the DS brothers had foot the bills for the wedding of Marik's son.
The former DGP filed a criminal defamation case and civil defamation suit against Sahu on March 1 and March 4 respectively. "I have ample evidence against Marik. I will submit those in court," Sahu said.
