'Anti-corruption should be taught in schools'

Science City vice-chairman U Sagayam on Friday said that subjects against corruption should be included in the syllabus.He was speaking at the annual day function organised by Fatima College on Friday.

Science City vice-chairman U Sagayam on Friday said that subjects against corruption should be included in the syllabus. He was speaking at the annual day function organised by Fatima College on Friday. Sagayam was the chief guest. In his speech, Sagayam said, "Students should learn English. When I was serving as the collector I had toured many places and visited many schools, during which I came to know that the government schools only promote Tamil." He added that students need not be afraid of their future.
"They should fix a target and march towards it. Subjects against corruption should be included in the text books," he said.
Five youths held in possession of arms:
Five men who were in possession of deadly weapons were arrested by the police on Thursday. A patrol team came across the five men, who were hiding in a dark spot in M K Puram and questioned them. It was found that they were carrying deadly weapons in a bag. They had confessed that they were planning to commit a robbery offence. The five men were identified as Adhiparameswaran, Pitchaimani, Kalidoss, Satyamoorthy, and Sendoor Murugan, all aged 19. They were remanded to custody.
Child marriage stopped:
A minor marriage which was to take place between, Murugan, 23, son of Bose of S Alangulam, and a sixteen year old girl from Bibikulam was stopped by the social welfare officials on Friday. The Alanganallur police rushed to the spot and prevented the marriage and warned the parents of the girl, Muthusamy and Dhanapackiam, against conducting her marriage before she attained the age of 18.
