Engineering student accused of rape, booked

Rajkot: The city police on Wednesday booked a student of a city-based engineering college after a girl accused him of rape.
The girl lodged a complaint against the student, who is a native of Jam Khambhaliya town of Devbhoomi Dwarka district, alleging that he raped her thrice last year. The girl told police that she had got in touch with him through social media and befriended him.
"On April 29 last, he called me to his rented room on Kalavad Road and raped me.Later, he raped me in a bus and then in a hotel room in Diu," she alleged.
She also alleged that he had promised to marry her and even took her to Jam Khambhaliya to meet his parents. However, his mother beat her up, she alleged.
"We have detained him for questioning," said M M Jadeja, investigating officer at the women's police station.
