A woman from Gurgaon got her beauty back after a severe accident
Gurgaon : A resident of Gurgaon Savita Yadav might not stand out in a crowd, but her story of sheer courage and determination to win over her "scars" does. Savita's dedication helped her recover from a severe road accident within just 3 months.
The mother of two, who was on her way from Fazilpur village (near Sohna Road) to Kosli to meet relatives, met with a car accident in December.
Her young son was behind the wheel while she was asleep on the passenger seat. Suddenly a bluebull jumped out on the road from the adjoining fields and hit the car on her side. The animal's hooves shattered the window pane and hit Savita on the left side of her face. Her skin over the left eyebrow ruptured and detached, exposing the skull beneath and the left cheekbone cracked due to the forceful impact.
She was rushed by a passer-by to the Jhajjar Civil Hospital but was referred to a bigger facility, looking at the severity of the case. "As soon as I got the information, we decided to bring her back home. The sight of her lying in a pool of blood unconscious was horrifying," recalls her husband, Karan Singh, "There was glass splinters all over her face and even in her eyes."
"Savita was lucky to have miraculously escaped the freak accident, it could have been fatal," explained Dr Sandeep Vaishya, director, Neurosurgery at Fortis Hospital, who operated her.
"It could have been fatal; she could have lost her vision. It was the timely intervention of her family which helped us save her life. Also she has been very regular with her follow up and has adhered to all the instructions which has helped her in a remarkable post-operative recovery. The scars have lightened greatly. She had realistic expectations on her recovery and appearance. In the next six months to a year her appearance would be even more pleasing," explained Dr Preeti Pandey, consultant, Cosmetology and Plastic Surgery, Fortis Hospital.
Savita is back to her daily chores and is taking care of herself and her family.
