Acting on a tip-off, the Godhra police on Tuesday arrested four persons who were trafficking liquor in a petrol tanker.

Vadodara: Acting on a tip-off, the Godhra police on Tuesday arrested four persons who were trafficking liquor in a petrol tanker. The accused, Vijay Parmar, Lalabhai Baria, Dilip Pateliya and Nirmal Parmar, were caught near near Om Shiv quarry in Gothda village. All are residents of Shehra taluka. They used to ferry Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in the petrol tanker to avoid suspicion.

According to the police, they traded the liquor at an isolated spot behind the quarry. Following the information the police kept a watch at the spot and arrested them.Police recovered 199 boxes containing 5,702 bottles worth Rs 9.61 lakhs. Mobile phones, an SUV and a pick-up truck amounting to Rs 22.62 lakh were also recovered from the spot.
The operation was carried out jointly by Godhra local crime branch, rapid response cell of Godhra range and taluka police. TNN
