The 12{+t}{+h}Additional District Judge Kishore Kumar on Tuesday found five accused guilty of robbing Headmistress of ZP High School of her gold ornaments, cash and other valuables, and sentenced each one of them to undergo seven years of rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs. 1,000.
According to District Public Prosecutor and in-charge PP of the court M. Venugopala Rao, Headmistress of ZPHS of Revidi Venkatapuram in Padmanabham mandal Attada Jayapradha (45) boarded an autorickshaw Maharajupeta Junction at 5.30 p.m. on October 23, 2013 to go to Vizianagaram to attend a marriage. She believed that the five persons inside the auto when she got into the auto were the driver and co-passengers but the driver diverted the vehicle towards Rellipeta and the two persons sitting behind her gagged her and when she tried to shout, the other two sitting beside her forcibly took away her Mangalasutram, a black bead chain and hand bag containing a mobile phone, ATM, PAN and voter cards and some cash. The accused pushed her into bushes and drove away. The Bheemunipatnam Police Station registered a case on the victim’s complaint and a special team formed with the then Inspector S. Lakshmana Murthy, Sub-Inspector Y. Appa Rao and constables V. Naidu, A. Appala Raju, B.V. Ramana and Kanna Rao, by the then ACP K. Rangaraju, traced the accused Nagisetti Peddiraju, Gandireddy Govindaraju, Nagisetti Siva, D. Mohan and Dharla Pydiraju, all from Anandapuram, and arrested them on October 31. All the gold ornaments were recovered. The judge sentenced them under IPC Section 395.
