Cousins Nikhil Murthy, Leena Mohan and Lekha Mohan all belong to different professions. While Nikhil and Leena are chartered accountants, Lekha is a chocolatier.

However, there’s one thing that they all share in common — a passion for food. Their love for exploring different cuisines made them realise that there are not enough places or people serving unique, tasty and out-of-the-box sandwiches in their very own City. So they came up with an idea to satiate their hunger for the same and called it ‘Sandwiched’.

“This is our very own culinary venture which loves to sandwich all its food. We make interesting sandwiches by using mouth watering fillings in a multitude of breads like pita bread, panini, croissant, sourdough and waffles,” says Lekha adding, “By watching countless food shows on TV and through various trips abroad, we gained some knowledge about different types of food and tastes and this led to our venture.”

The trio put their hands together to whip up some yummy sandwiches. “Our many sessions of experimentation, tastings and reworking on the recipes to create some unique sandwiches started last October. We put up a stall in ‘Kitsch Mandi’ in November and the response we received from the people was so overwhelming that it kept us going,” she elaborates.

While creating their sandwiches, they try to incorporate the different tastes (sweet, sour, salty and bitter) by using ingredients such as blueberries, cranberries, avocado, goat cheese, jalapeno, eggs, tofu and more.

“Our jalapeno toast is a play on different textures that are combined to create an exciting feel. It includes a sweet and spicy jalepeno jelly, jalapeno pieces and toasted crumbs, all included to create a melange of different textures,” she details.

The team is soon coming up with another sinful creation called the ‘Junkwich’, a sandwich fully loaded with favourites like fries, jalapeno poppers and lots of cheese.

“A well-made sandwich is something that anyone would like to enjoy anytime and that’s exactly what we aim to cater to,” adds Lekha.

As of now, one can find them in some of the pop-up events happening across the City.

They also take up catering gigs where the expected crowd is around 60 people. “We are also working on setting up a food truck soon and our future plans also include a sandwich cafe,” sums up Lekha.
