PASIR SALAK: Agriculture and Agro-based Industry deputy minister Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the controversial statement ‘slap the Chinese’ will not affect the support and good ties he had with the Chinese voters, here.
According to Tajuddin, the good relations which had been established for so long with the Chinese community in his area was among the reasons the opposition was envious and looked for issues to put them at loggerheads.
“My relation with the Chinese community here is very good and of course they are envious. I have already explained this to the voters in my area.”
Tajuddin was met by reporters at the 2016 Chinese New Year celebration organised by the Pasir Salak Barisan Nasional at the SJK(C) Wah Keow hall which was also attended by MCA Wanita chief, Datuk Heng Seai Kie and over 1,000 residents of Langkap and Chui Chak, on Sunday night.
He was asked to comment on his speech that the support of the Chinese voters in his area would not be affected due to a report on a controversial statement which was distorted by a pro-opposition portal last year.
In the report, Tajuddin was said to have made a statement wanting to slap the Chinese citizens in the country if they continued to complain about their problems to outside parties.
It referred to the visit of the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Huang Hui Kang to Jalan Petaling in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 25, following the red shirt group protest threat to the area.
Huang allegedly caused a controversy by issuing a statement that China opposed any form of extremism and racism against a certain community. — Bernama
