MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The protests erupted in country's eastern town of Isithebe, after its former mayor decided to run in local government elections again.
"A total of 120 suspects were arrested and charged with public violence, arson and malicious damage to property," Maj. Thulani Zwane said, as quoted by South African News24 website.
He added that the protesters set a truck, two vehicles, four factories and five containers aflame during their manifestation against mayor's renomination.
