It is a dream come true for residents of Kadihalli in Chittapur taluk in Kalaburagi as they will finally get road connectivity to Hungunta making it easier to reach the industrial township of Shahbad. Villagers had to travel more than 20 km to reach Shahabad for marketing their agriculture produce and send their children to the schools and colleges.
Priyank Kharge, MLA, took the intiative to lay a road from Kadihalli to Hungunta under the ‘Namma Grama Namma Raaste’ scheme at a cost of Rs. 4.40 crore and entrusted the work to the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana Division to execute it.
The new road will reduce the travel distance between Kadihalli to Shahabad by 10 km. “I was born and brought up in this village (Kadihalli) and I did not had the hope of seeing an approach road from Hungunta in my lifetime and the new road would help the people to get accessibility to quality hospitals….many miscarriages have taken place and young mothers lost their new borns due to the delay in medical treatment during labour pains due to lack of accessibility,” said Hanumavva, a 80-year-old resident.
There was a road to Hungunta from Kadihalli, but the land granted for the road was under encroachment and it was used for cultivating agriculture crop all these years.
The officials of the PMGSY first cleared all these encroachment and formed the road.
The work of laying of granular sub-base over two layers of metalling has been completed and the work of black carpeting of the road will be taken up shortly.
