The Madras High Court Bench here on Thursday issued a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant to the CBI for producing before it on March 11 I. Ruban, one of the 17 accused in the 2007 Dinakaran newspaper office attack case, from Vellore Central Prison where he was lodged at present .

A Division Bench passed the order on an application filed by the CBI seeking a non-bailable arrest warrant by the court on January 27 to secure the presence of 12 of the 17 accused. The CBI had so far executed the arrest warrant with respect to three accused M. Saravanamuthu alias ‘Sirpi’ Saravanan, V. Sudhakar and S. Malik Batcha. The warrant was not issued against prime accused V.P. Pandi alias ‘Attack’ Pandi since he was already in prison after being arrested by Madurai city police in Mumbai on September 21 for facing trial in many other cases.
