Underpass for Sec 15A key concern in RWA body meet

Underpass for Sec 15A key concern in RWA body meet
NOIDA: An underpass to streamline traffic, increase the height of the boundary wall (parallel to Shahdara drain), levelling of roads and painting of speed breakers were some of the long-pending issues raised by residents of Sector 15A in a meeting with the Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) on Sunday.
At the meeting Inderjit Sial, RWA president of Sector 15A, said the boundary wall of the sector, which runs parallel to Shahdara drain, is low-levelled and hence a great security hazard to residents.

"Miscreants easily climb over it to enter the sector. This leads to many burglaries," Sial said.
Residents stressed the need for an underpass on the expressway leading to the sector's entry as traffic movement, to and from the sector, remains hazardous in its absence. "The demand for an underpass was long pending and was sanctioned by the Authority. However, it's been six months and work on it has not started yet," said Ashok Chaturvedi, general secretary of the RWA.
Apart from this, the recently tarred internal road of the sector has become uneven, making it difficult for residents to walk on it. The problem is also faced while parking cars," said Chaturvedi.
There's also pending work on painting and repair of speed breakers on the main road. "Painting on and around the speed breakers has got completely washed out and has become invisible, resulting in frequent accidents," said Sial.

The sector RWA said that despite repeated reminders to the Noida Authority no action had been taken yet. "It's been more than six months since the underpass clearance came through, three months since the proposed boundary wall height was sanctioned and one and a half months since the green light was given for painting and repairing the roads and speed breakers. But yet no work has begun on the ground," Chaturvedi said.
N P Singh, president of FONRWA, assured that he would take up the matter with the Authority and wrote to chairman Rama Raman.
Meanwhile, project engineers Mohammad Ishrat and A K Goel said sanction for the underpass and other works have come through and work will begin soon, tentatively by March 15. "E-tendering and clearances of all such work takes time, hence the delay," said Ishrat.
