Youth jumps off train, dies

A 24-year-old youth who tried to jump out of a speeding train at Changanassery succumbed to injuries on Thursday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Vijith Lal (24) of Sudheesh Bhavan, Jagathy, Thiruvananthapuram district. Vijith was travelling in Venad Express to Changanassery from Thiruvananthapuram to participate in the EMS Memorial Sevens Tournament.

He had dozed off in the train and had missed his station only to wake up after the train started and gained speed.

He jumped out of the train, fell on platform but was pulled back into the track by the speeding train. He died on the spot. His body has been handed over to relatives after autopsy.
