Left show of strength tomorrow

Guwahati: Seven Left parties, including CPI and CPM, will stage a joint protest on the banks of Dighalipukhuri here on Thursday to protest against the Centre's crackdown on freedom of expression.
Six Left parties CPI, CPM, CPI-ML, SUCI (C), AIFB, RSP and RCPI met at the CPM headquarters here on Tuesday and condemned BJP and RSS for increasingly curbing freedom of expression and other democratic rights, especially in the JNU incident.

The parties urged their supporters to stage protests against the NDA government.
On Thursday, activists and supporters of the Left parties will assemble at Dighalipukhuri to extend their support to the arrested students. "The BJP-led government at the Centre is fast losing support for its anti-people activities. Under such circumstances, the attack on JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and his fellow students to divert the attention of the people is condemnable," said CPM state secretary Deben Bhattacharyya.
"The Sangh Parivar is portraying Left forces as anti-national. The time has come to face the situation in a united manner," Bhattacharyya added.
