Cyclist Barbara Phipps named as Teynham crash victim

A woman who was killed when the bike she was riding was involved in a crash with a lorry has been named by police.

Cyclist Barbara Phipps, aged 73, of Lynsted, was fatally injured in the collision in London Road in Teynham, Kent, at about 10:15 GMT on Saturday.

A 58-year-old man from Essex who was driving the HGV has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

London Road was shut temporarily while officers investigated the collision.

Mrs Phipps's family said she was a very loving, caring mum who interacted with many people in and around the village.
