GUNTUR: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will begin to work from the temporary Secretariat. Earlier, the government planned to construct the temporary Secretariat in 20 acres at Velagapudi but the area has been now increased to 45 acres. According to reliable sources, Mr Naidu is planning to shift his office to the temporary Secretariat and hence the decision to increase the area. At present, Mr. Naidu is residing in a house on the banks of River Krishna at Seethanagaram and the officials are planning to construct a straight road to Velagapudi, to provide high security for his convoy. The works would be begin after getting approval for the proposals and will be completed by June this year.
However, the government employees working in the AP Secretariat at Hyderabad are doubtful about completion of the temporary Secretariat works by June. The delaying of tender process for its construction due to excess amount per sqft. quoted in the bid is another reason behind the doubt. The academic year will begin from June and so the employees are worried about getting admissions in the local educational institutions if the works of the temporary Secretariat go beyond June. A senior official said that Mr. Naidu was planning to build confidence among the officials and employees by starting the works of the from temporary Secretariat. It is learnt that the chief minister further asked the officials to ready his office through prefabrication system by April itself and that he also opines that working from the temporary base would expedite works and also improve confidence among the government staff. The CRDA is busy finalising the tenders for temporary Secretariat to begin the works at the earliest in view of the changed proposals and the chief minister’s view and opinion.
