New taluk supply office in Idukki

To function at Cheruthoni from today

The fifth taluk supply office in the district will start functioning at Cheruthoni on Saturday. It will cater to Ayyappancoil, Kamakshy, Vathikudy, Vazhathoppe, Kanchiyar, Mariyapuram, Konnathady, and Kanjikuzhy grama panchayats in addition to the Kattappana municipality of the newly created Idukki taluk.

People in the eight grama panchayats and the municipality were depending to Thodupuzha and Udumpanchola taluk supply offices till now.

As many as 134 public distribution system outlets with 56,000 ration card-holders will come under the new taluk supply office.

Other offices

This is in addition to the taluk supply offices in Thodupuzha, Udumpanchola, Peermade, and Devikulam in the district. Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob will inaugurate the new supply office at 9.30 a.m. at a function to be presided by Roshy Augustine, MLA. Joice George, MP, will deliver the keynote address, according to a release here on Saturday.
