Jason Pierre-Paul updates social media avatars to X-ray of his surgically repaired hand

Last summer, New York Giants’ Jason Pierre-Paul mangled his hand in a horrific fireworks accident. He nearly had to have it amputated, but he refused. Since the first surgery he has worked hard to make a comeback, despite not having a thumb.  After this season ended, Pierre-Paul underwent another surgery to give his injured hand more flexibility, as reported by ESPN.

Now, he has changed his Twitter and Instagram avatars to show an X-ray of his hand.

The Twitter cover photo he has posted now is also of his hand. It’s the same photo that was taken the first time he spoke to the media after the initial accident. On Friday, he posted the following message on Instagram:

Pierre-Paul is charging forward, and he is definitely not trying to hide or bury the fireworks incident in any way.
