Bruce Springsteen has been cordially invited to Westmeath this summer, to perform with a local church choir ahead of his sold out gigs in Croke Park.

The Boss’ great-great-grandmother hails from Rathowen in the county, and the local choir have suggested he take to the altar in the local church.

According to The Sun, an invitation has been extended to Springsteen this week by father Niall Charles of St. Mary’s Church in the village.

“Bruce would be welcome if he wanted to join our choir. And we certainly wouldn’t mind him playing a gig for us or even taking a box of envelopes and making a contribution,” he said speaking to the publication.

Springsteen has yet to accept the invitation and has left Westmeath fans waiting in hope.

Meanwhile, Bruce Springsteen’s Croke Park gigs in May sold out in mere hours on Thursday.

The gigs are set to be the biggest of the summer and constitute two of the three dates allowed at Croke Park every year.
