PANAJI: After a brief setback last fortnight Goa tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) in association with Pawan Hans Ltd, is set to resume helicopter joyrides staring February14. For Valentine’s Day, a special joyrides have been organized from Park Hyatt Goa Resorts and Spa, Cansualim in South Gao.
The ten-minute helicopter joyride offer an aerial view of beautiful Goa.
The cost per head is Rs 3500. The full-fledged helicopter rides initiated from Aguada in North Goa two weeks ago were curtailed after protests by some locals. The local leaders of Congress and the BJP had joined the agitators. Aguada’s designated helipad is owned by the government but it is rarely used.
The GTDC was though determined to proceed with its initiative which is aimed at attracting high-end tourists to Goa, it had to stop after protests intensified. BJP’s Calangute MLA Michael Lobo had also submitted a memorandum to Parsekar seeking intervention.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar ordered to stop the activity albeit temporarily. The helirides at Aguada were conducted for just a day on January 31, after the soft launch on January 26.
