A Dublin singleton was the icing on top of the cake on last night’s marvellously cringe worthy Late Late when he scored a date on the show’s one-night only version of ‘Blind Date’.

Ryan Tubridy admitted that Dean, a 25-year-old from Coolock, was “the star” of last night’s Late Late Show Valentine ’s Day special after scoring a date with Kerry girl Amanda in RTE’s Green Room.

Tubridy acted as Cilla Black as enthusiastic Topshop worker Dean was selected by Kerry girl Amanda for the romantic date, despite telling her a story about a one night stand gone awry.

“I had a one night stand. But unfortunately I left me Leap Card, me wallet and me phone in her bedroom before I took flight out the front door,” he said.

“When I was trying to hail a taxi, I realised I had no money so I ran back up to the door, slammed on it one, two, three and there she was for me,” he said, which was cause enough for Amanda to pick him over the others.

Amanda, who had been single for two years, turned down two prospective dates for Dean because she felt “the audience liked him”.

However, when the couple returned to the couch later on in the show, Amanda did not appear to have had as good of a time as Dean in the green room as she questioned whether she would go on the dinner for two sponsored by RTE.

“My night’s not been as good as Dean’s. Deano’s fantastic. He’s good fun. We’ll talk about going for dinner it’s a big step. It’s very formal,” Amanda said.

However, Dean said the evening of merriment couldn’t have gone any better.

“I’ve been put into the green room and treated with the utmost hospitality. I mean RTE could not have gone any better for me. Amanda is beautiful I’ve seen her phone it was great. It was snapping.

“Do you know what? We’re getting together. I love her. I’m feeling exotic and enthusiastic."

Viewers took to Twitter to credit Dean for a great night's entertainment on Valentine's Weekend.

"Dean needs his own show for his epicness," one user wrote.

"Literally the best thing I have ever seen on The Late Late," Claire O'Dowd wrote.
