The district administration has geared up to organise ‘Chandranna Swayam Upadhi Mega BC Runa Mela’ on Saturday. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will launch the loan mela. The government will disburse loans to the tune of Rs. 261 crore to the beneficiaries, according to BC Welfare Minister Kollu Ravindra.
The second phase of mega loan mela would benefit many people. The government has decided to provide loans worth of Rs. 228 crore to 34,193 beneficiaries through the BC Corporation. Of this, Rs. 114 crore is subsidy, he said.
The State Government is committed towards the welfare of Backward Classes (BCs). The government is implementing BC Sub-Plan and allocated Rs. 6,640 crore. For the first time in the history of the country, the AP government is spending 21 per cent of budget on BC welfare. The budget for fee reimbursement is increased to Rs. 1,500 crore from Rs.1,000 crore. A special fund would be created for the students to study abroad. The government is contemplating to provide Rs. 10 lakh to each student going abroad for studies, he said. The Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium complex has been spruced up for the mela. The meeting venue has been divided into six blocks and stalls with themes. Each block would be manned by two MROs and MPDOs.
