After days of questioning, the Delhi Police finally arrested four family members of Naveen Khatri, the main accused in the murdered case of DU student Arzoo Singh. The arrested persons include Naveen’s father Raj Kumar and his brother Sandeep.
The arrests come a week after a Naveen Khatri was held for Arzoo’s murder which he allegedly committed on February 2. All four have been held for destruction of evidence and harbouring an offender but have not been booked in the conspiracy of murder, something Arzoo’s family has been alleging since the incident came to light.
“We have arrested Krishan Kumar, Naveen’s uncle, Rajkumar, his father, Sandeep, his brother and Navin, his cousin.
They have been booked under sections 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender), 202 (for making illegal omission to inform the authorities) and 212 (harbouring offender- whoever harbours or conceals a person whom he knows or has reason to believe to be the offender, with the intention of screening him from legal punishment) of the IPC,” said a senior police officer.
All four were arrested from their residence and later produced in the court after which they were granted bail.
