PMK allowed to hold meet

February 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court on Friday allowed the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), to conduct its State-level meeting at a private land (VGP Thidal) with a condition that the party must pay Rs. 35 lakh as licence fee for utilising the 95.74 acre land.

Disposing of the writ appeal moved by the Director General of Police, the Division Bench of Justices K.K. Sasidharan and M. Venugopal initially allowed the PMK to conduct the meeting on February 14. Subsequently, admitting an emergent petition moved by the party to modify the order and permit them to conduct the meeting on February 27, the Bench permitted the change of date with an enhanced license fee.
