SRINAGAR: The deadlock over government formation in Jammu & Kashmir inched towards an end on Friday with BJP sources saying differences with the PDP have narrowed down and that it would issue fresh assurances to Mehbooba Mufti addressing her concerns surrounding their common minimum programme.
BJP general secretary Ram Madhav, who is in charge of J&K, is all set to hold one-on-one talks with Mehbooba on Saturday.
In fact, BJP sources said Mehbooba, who had been a somewhat reluctant interlocutor so far, has been actively involved in discussions and attempts to tide over differences in recent days.
Sources said the BJP high command, which held three back-to-back high-level meetings in New Delhi, has resolved to inform the PDP president that the agenda of alliance that both the parties had drafted in March 2015 would be implemented in letter and spirit.
The BJP is not going to edit or redraft the agenda of alliance. Mehbooba had earlier pitched for the J&K specific confidence building measures and asked the BJP to come clear over their implementation. PDP sources said their party president wants a free hand in dealing with the separatist groups in Kashmir, liberal flow of funds from the Centre, and return of power projects to the state government.
