Comedian Hannibal Buress is in negotiations to join the cast of Paramount’s “Baywatch” reboot starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.

Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, “Quantico” actress Priyanka Chopra and Ilfenesh Hadera are also on board to star. Seth Gordon is directing the film.

Johnson will also produce the movie with his partner Dany Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions banner. Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman are producing as well, along with Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Greg Bonann.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the latest draft of the script. Plot details are currently vague, but sources close to the project reveal that the studio is taking a comedic approach to the story. The movie begins shooting February 22 in Atlanta.

Buress has been tapped to play one of the locals in the bay community. He recently shot an appearance opposite James Franco and Seth Rogen in New Line’s “The Disaster Artist” and does voice work in Illumination and Universal’s upcoming animated film “The Secret Life of Pets.” He was also seen in Paramount’s surprise hit comedy “Daddy’s Home.” “Broad City” fans will know him as Lincoln Rice.

He is repped by WME. The news was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
